    Pressure on the bladder.

Cancer tends to invade surrounding tissues. The ureters are nearby and are very small in diameter. Cancer could breach the ureters, causing an ulcer that drips blood into the urine. Simple as that.

With ovarian cancer, the initial physical symptoms are vague and screening tools nonexistent. As a result, it’s often diagnosed at an advanced stage and has the highest mortality of all cancers of the female reproductive system. The urine test for ovarian cancer is to detect Bcl-2. BCL-2 is a human proto-oncogene located on chromosome 18. The gene was discovered as the translocated locus in a B-cell leukemia (hence the name). The average amount of Bcl-2 in the urine of women with ovarian cancer is more than 2 ng/mL, which is significantly greater – at least 10 times greater in most cases – than Bcl-2 levels in the urine of healthy women and women with benign gynecologic disease. Urinary levels of Bcl-2 usually decreases up to 100% after patients have had debulking surgery, but the Bcl-2 levels remain low during the course of chemotherapy, but increases significantly among patients whose disease recurrs. The reason for blood in the urine related to ovarian cancer would likely be caused by metastized cancer from the ovarian cancer. The other possible cause would be the size of the tumour pressing on related organs and causing the haematuria.
